A Bit About Me
I’m Dr. J — an architect, researcher, and lifelong believer that good design can change the way we live, feel, and connect.
With a Ph.D. in Architectural Psychology and years as an Associate Professor of Architecture at Waseda University in Tokyo, my career has always centered on one question: How do spaces influence human emotions, habits, and quality of life?
Now based in the Bay Area, I’ve led dozens of new builds, remodels, and ADU projects, from private homes to multi-family investments. I bring not just technical expertise, but a relentless obsession with detail. To me, design isn’t about chasing trends or labels. It’s about creating spaces that heal, inspire, and grow with the people who live in them.
My Philosophy
Style may catch the eye, but true design shapes how you live. A home should simplify routines, reduce stress, and nurture relationships. For me, architecture isn’t about trends or labels, it’s about creating spaces that heal, inspire, and last for generations.
Beyond Projects
For me, architecture isn’t just a profession — it’s a passion. I’m endlessly curious about how people live, what brings them joy, and how thoughtful design can make daily life more fluid, peaceful, and inspiring.
My clients often tell me: “Dr. J understood needs we didn’t even know how to express.”
That’s the greatest compliment I can receive.
If you’re considering building, remodeling, or adding an ADU in the Bay Area, let’s start with a conversation.
